GDPR
Today there is a great effort through efforts such as GDPR to recognize the influence of the subject of the data when the information is voluntarily given, however it cannot be said that the same efforts have not been used to address the economic motivators for cybercrime. This post attempts to highlight a few areas of how economic disparities can fuel cybercrime and look at how better youth activities can not only redirect the participants away from a criminal life involving the outlet of cybercrime but also closer to God. In reading the following response, it is important to remind ourselves that when we go to work each day, we are working to serve people, not companies. There are relationships at work which could serve as motivators to conform with the ideas of the organizations but we do not serve the companies themselves, only the ideals they represent.
There is a story a traditional story where there are two wolves, an aggressive wolf with snarling teeth and a very mean spirit, the other a sweet loving wolf. Which of these two wolves would win in a fight? The answer is the one I choose to feed (Scott, 2012). What criteria does the giver use to decide whether a person is worthy of being fed with our time and efforts is up to us. There is a limited amount of resources and so saying “no” to something make it possible to say “yes” to another (Hain, 2017). Through the Freudian slips about the mindset the person who tries to persuade, we can learn about those who hijack the human mind. An idea is the most penetrating element which is capable of from one person to another. To learn techniques empirically, police cadets often learn about the purpose of kinds of interactions with the public with simulators. Although some criminals are not thinking rationally, a useful tool is when the attacker steps into the other target's shoes and they often try these techniques on each other to understand how effective at stopping a suspected assailant each technique is. Our global economy, as seen by the cooking ingredients for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is very dependent on other services. Considering the many sources of ingredients of bread, the yeast, the barley, the flour, butter, honey, and shortening is an overwhelming task (Michael Munger, 2016). The internet is a major distributor of goods. The internet is a wonderful thing, but some people use it as a tool to do crimes which predate the internet such as theft and money laundering and few criminologists have skills in dealing with seven continents and their subgroups of languages, religious beliefs, genders and ages.
Who motivates you? What subconscious factors lead you towards decisions and helps you feel good about those decisions? As citizens of the world we have a global economy. One which is entangled and intertwined beyond the confines of national borders. Fueling the interactivity is the internet. Because of the extreme competition from abroad people around the world are grappling for a new sense of identity. Usable security is a balance between two forces, the need to thrive economically and the need to avoid risky ways. Persuasion is necessary to have a good economy. When a person wakes up in the morning they do not proclaim they want to do something immoral. Instead the opportunity presents itself and the person decides to take advantage of it. People often buy with emotions and justify with logic. Should they be at a hardware store and the store mark a piece of lumber with the wrong price. They might wonder if they should buy it at the lower price. They might justify it by explaining to them that the hardware store makes a large markup on the price (Jolles, 2013). However, for the person to take part an economic system, everyone must play by the rules. For example, if someone is speeding and they believe that no one else should, then the legal system begins to fall apart. Everyone surrenders certain rights to make sure everyone's safety and wellbeing including their own (Michael Munger, 2016). There are larger debates on whether a certain situation change of the rules to make clear inequalities even. Other situations include when a member of society does not play by the rules such as the Syrian refugee crisis, how to compensation the people who are not able to live as they should. General Michael Hayden wrote "They introduced me to the thought of a domain -- land, sea, air, space, and cyber. Once you are in that place of a man of my background beings to understand that, just as in the other domains -- land, sea, air and space -- the United States wants to be able to freely use that domain and to deny its use to others who would will us harm" (Mitchell, 2016).
It is easy for us to think we have all the truth and those who disagree with us do not. Uncontrolled epidemics have stimulated great works of literature including Albert Camus's The Plague which catastrophe what a epidemic might look like. In these stories, imagination runs wild. There were those who believed that most to all disease is caused by sin 5. Hippocrates demonstrated through meticulous observations that this might not be the case and rather things happen because of cellular reproduction and other scientific means. It was once unseenly for healthcare providers to do research which involved autopsies and scientists had to sneak into cemetaries at night to gain information from dead bodies. On Observations Gaunt analyzed parish records of baptisms, burials, and the causes of death and drew infrerences about life expectancy to prove that these were ordinary circumstances that could be explained by science 5. Pauster helped take these ideas further by establishing germ theory of diseases to point to ideas of factors that could make people susceptible to disease 5. "He demonstrated that burial of anthrax-infected sheep in fields where healthy sheep were pasturized led to the transmission of anthrax to the grazing sheep when sharp stalks of mown grass or stubble cut their legs" 5. Through these efforts we have told the story of those who are voiceless.I have come across an article from the BBC called "Why we should Treat Violence as an Epidemic". The American Public Health Association asserts that there is a connection when they write "AJPH has published some of the finest cutting-edge research on firearm safety and violence and we're proud to offer these insights" 2. The BBC article says that supression could be a driver of crime "Particularly in Scotland, it was poverty inequality things like toxic masculinity, alcohol use, all these factors-most of which were outside the bounds of policing" 4. A Charlotte Police Department detective gave insight addressing the potency of the gang drug dealer. Often in single parent homes, the parent has to work long hours so when they come home they have no energy left for the required tasks of raising a child. The parent provides a TV tray dinner and checks t o see homework is done but are no able to go beyond this. The drug dealer sometimes validates what the parent does by asking the child if they need anything for school and sometimes supplies school supplies. This lures the kid into believing that the gang is good because they implement what the parent says is important and the child gives the gang leader their loyalty in gratitude 1. Jesuit priest, Greg Boyle says that the parent or parents, whichever the case may be, might not be emotionally stable. The parent may say things to the effect of "you look so much like your father" or "you are like your father" then they see them as an extention of their partner which they are not getting along with. Boyle told the story of a kid who needed three t-shirts to hid his wounds from the beatings inflicted on him 6. What these kids need to feel as though they are a part of something greater like kinship. When these efforts are rechanneled through effors like Boye's ministries, they can feel as though they are getting themselves the elements needed for survivial such as a place to belong 6 and fosters some of the elements higher in Maslow's pyramid of needs beyond safety such as creativity. Boyle notes "our common calling is to take delight in one another" 6.Biblical application:The literature summarized above reminds me of John 7:53 to 8:11 where Jesus has sat down in the temple to teach and a group of Pharisees bring in a woman and confront Jesus interrupting his teaching. They made many claims against this woman including adultry which they say they caught her in the act of committing. They ask Jesus whether it would be appropriate to subject her to Mosaic law and stone her. Jesus initially ignores the group and they become more demanding. He challenges them to have the first person who threw a stone be a person who never sinned. The elders immediately depart leaving only the younger ones and they too depart. Jesus shows mercy and redemption in asking if anyone condemned her. She answered truthfully that there were not two witnesses left who could testify against her, which is required by Mosaic law. Jesus said that he did not condemn her either. In Deuteronomy 2:22-24 and Leviticus 20:10 sate that death is a fixed penalty for adultry. Stoning as the form of death is only specified when a virgin is engaged. Because the Romans who ruled Palestine gave Jewish religious leaders at the temple authority to arrest anyone creating a disturbance or breaking ceremonial laws there were hundreds of trials. This might have been an attempt to provoke Jesus into creating a disruption thus giving them the justification to arrest him the Romans could tolerate 3. These acts that they accused the woman of were common in Canaan 8. God wanted the Jewish people to make family reproduction special so they could be a positive influence. It is unclear whether this woman was a part of the Jewish community. There were Syrians who had come from the north, Greeks who had moved in after the conquest of Alexander the Great, and Romans who arrived about the middle of the first century BC. The Jewish people might not have had the authority to execute people whereas the Roman people did. This would have pitted Jesus against the Roman authority. It is interesting to note that the man who was also aught in the act was not caught whereas in Mosaic law both the woman and the man would have born the punishment 8. It was the husband's responsibility to care for his wife and offspring by providing shelter and food. Under Mosaic law, a man could give a wife a bill of divorce should he find an indecency in her. This could be everything from adultry to burning the food accidently. If a woman was accused of adultry, then the man would take her before a priest and make the suspected woman drink a bitter potion. If she became ill then she would be considered guilt and if she did not become ill then she was presumed innocent and returned to her husband 3.
Why do some people judge and condemn others when in fact they are practicing something wrong? Have you ever gotten down on someone when you were struggling in the same area? What are our duties to God, family, society, and government? How may we be ethically responsible for people in the daily world? What is God's plan for us? How do we prepare our children and ourselves for the world to come?
According to the Mosaic law, a person could only be put to death with two or more witnesses to condemn. Therefore Jesus fulfilled the law in releasing her.
Working at the Salvation Army, I hear this pattern of a story similar to this. Gang life reenforces the behaviors of loyalty and someone is not loyal and when a compassionate person either gives them a second chance or does not contact them, the gang member uses other means of getting even with them. The cops shows up and asks them to surrender to the cop‘s views or perhaps face greater threats. When a person is threatened they tend to resist. “It used to be that when employees left a company, managers would wish them well, and both parties simply move on. However, the employee life center now includes tapping alumni and engaging them as ambassadors of the organization. To address this changing landscape, a growing number of organizations are proactive in reaching out to former employees and crafting corporate alumni networks” 3. This has to do with our health because philosophers argued that humans are motivated by a desire to experience pleasure. Nietzsche argued that it is neither pain nor pleasure but a sense of a desire for strength and power. In order to gain power humans are willing to sacrifice 2. This is demonstrated by every soldier who gave his life for his country. Every person who undergoes vaccinations seeks to keep control his or her own body thus enabling them to accomplish more. Our textbook explains behavior epidemiology as the study of behavioral factors in health including physical activities. Closely related to behavioral epidemiology is behavioral medicine which is the application of behavioral factors to specific clinical inventions. Psychologicalepidemiology studies psychosocial on health. Since joining a gang can affect the occurrence, distribution, and determinants of health related states or events and affects society in itself. Studies of gangs is an appropriate use of epidemiology.
The book Power Your Tribe points out that that there are three base principles that every company should have: safety, belonging and mattering needs. Then the employees would be able yo build upon those three pillars to be creative. Google and some other larger tech companies attempt to have the workplace as the primary mental occupation. They do not want to compete for your limited brain mental cycles. Being safe and knowing that people have your back. It ultimately cost her her life on overdose. There are different types of motorcycle gangs and the American Motorcycle associations and the 1% are proud to be the exception to the 99% who are law abiding citizens. Eastern washington is home to two of the 1% original club houses, the hell's angels near auburn area and the Gypsy Jokers Motorcycle club. The GJMC is known to be a well known gang which is known for the way the riders wear a bandana around their head and being started on April Fools Day. They are a large organization with membership in four countries like US UK Austria. Once a member joins they are a member for life.
A newspaper from New York reports that they took blunt objects to the head of a person no longer wishing to be a part of the gang.
New gory details in the investigation into the murder of Robert Huggins, 56, were revealed this week and include that he had suffered a fractured skull, a broken rib, a broken leg, and had one of his nipples ripped off, detectives said this week.
When in high school we did a boy's retreat where the youth leader of a church I attended did research on some of what draws people to a gang. He said other than male teresterones there was a real sense of brotherhood and a sense of "I've got your back and you have mine". Although we have a different common interest than the 13s, he argued that we should be there for each other. Because we have God as a common interest as opposed to some chemical, we should even more be connected to each other. The youth group leader drew a triangle on a whiteboard and said the left part of the triangle is you, the right part of the triangle is the other person in the relationship and the top part is God. As you grow closer to God, it draws us to other people. This is an equilateral and not isocelese. We then watched brave heart and painted our faces blue and stormed into the dining area.
This could be related to the business world because gangs have a lot of energy and a lot of creativity. If we were to promote a sense of values in the workforce, I believe that we would be able to redirect these young men’s efforts to their communities. The youth pastor talked a great deal about ”ownership”. I was just thinking about you as I was pondering the Spokane economic situation. It’s easy to get depressed by the numbers and stories about local companies being bought out and the jobs shifted elsewhere. Our unemployment rate according to the BLS is greater than Detroit, Chicago, and Cleveland. We are trying solutions that are tried elsewhere such as hotels and it may not work out for us. I am then reminded about the concept of ownership or investing in our community. I’ve read a kids devotional about how a family’s father lost his job and his kid who is in elementary school is picking the holes in his clothes to make them bigger and his mom has a conversation about it. Yes, we are a community with an older population than some. We either can start companies that take our community’s strengths and try to take advantage of them. Looking at how caring community members infused themselves in the poorest communities such as the Kendall yards area which was formerly known as felony flats and came alongside the residents there and mentored them and shared with them a way of life. Or we can sit back and make fun of how poorly we are doing but what would that accomplish. Our economy in Spokane has never been strong yet God provides. Often we look at ways that we can help ourselves and this can make the situation worse. We set up meth and marijuana shops and casinos which can lead others to sin. Some Inuit tribes in order to capture wolves leave a bloody knife and the blood thirsty wolves take the bait thus cutting themselves and not realizing the blood is now their own. I believe the Catholics have been successful in thinking of ways we can help others through cooperation and providing for people in need. It will take a great amount of humility and sacrifice to engage with the people around us, listen to them, and come up with solutions that keep our community moving forward.
The greatest insider threat to not only organizations but Christianity as well are those who incite hacktivism by maliciously living without integrity. In the notes of a meeting of the United Nations Security Council notes that ISIL/Da’esh sought to use the Internet and social networks to encourage and mobilize its followers to carry out attacks, as well as to recruit resources and members. Peru advocated strengthening policies to promote critical thinking in cyberspace, he said. Citing the threat posed by returning foreign terrorist fighters, he stressed the need for comprehensive criminal justice strategies that respect human rights, due process and the gender perspective. (United Nations Counter-Terrorism Head Tells Security Council) In the documentary, Tough Guise 2, producer Jackson Katz tells of two types of baby blankets, a blue one for boys and a pink one for girls. When the babies leave the hospital, they are wrapped in someone else’s worldview that is defined by culture about what traits a person according to their gender should have. Organizations such as the boy scouts and the girl scouts as well as the YMCA and YWCA try to install confidence beyond these gender types and encourage children toward accomplishments. What Jackson Katz was concerned about was hyper-masculinity. According to this theory, when a man is challenged and it is shifting his perspective away from the perspective the male wishes that others view himself as being, the subject attempts to soften the blows by challenging the other person’s credentials and exposing the other person as a phony who is not to be taken seriously (Kutz, 2013). When one thinks about it, a wind could either extinguish a candle or it can make the flame so large that it becomes a wildfire. Jesus life did not make common sense, it made divine sense and therefore it caused an upset for many people. Jesus had a fierce love for his people who his considered to be his children. Jesus says in Luke chapter 12:49-53 I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law (Biblegateway). When we do not put priorities where they need to be, God’s wrath is against us. When we speak of loving our neighbor as ourselves, there is great upset (Graham, 2019). When we speak not of favoring our friends but treating all God’s children with love be them Americans or Mexicans or Arabs or Africans there is a great unsettlement within our own hearts (Graham, 2019). When we speak about how to manage the economy, not for our own gain there is also an upset. These issues bother us, and they are intended to bother us into action (Graham, 2019). Thus, when a company insider thumbs his nose at people with a seeming disadvantage and block the way of effective communication, there is a reason for hacktivism. As the people of an inhabited planet, we are many different social structures. Please use your God given talents and take the time to listen to concerns. No matter how small, every life deserves respect.
